Embroidery Hoops
Embroidery hoops are widely available in different sizes and shapes, most of the time it comes in oval or round, and can either be plastic, spring tension and made of wood. However, it has been known that plastic and spring embroidery hoops are more capable of holding the fabric more firmly than wooden hoops. To avoid crease marks and stains on the fabric, it would be advisable to remove it from the embroidery hoops on a daily basis right after stitching. One of the most helpful tips in using embroidery hoops is use a piece of cut out muslin or any other similar fabric that would serve as a mount. Place it atop the embroidery fabric to serve as an effective protection against hoop marks and dirt. Side form the stability the embroidery hoops provide, it can also make 'stabbing' easier rather than using the 'scooping' method. The stabbing technique is more preferable since this would require less handling of the fabric during the whole stitching process, which ultimately lessens the possibility of causing unnecessary damage to the project. Another advantage of using embroidery hoops is the fact that it significantly minimizes deformation of the embroidery fabric, which is very important especially when making diagonal stitches, such as the commonly used half cross stitches or tent stitches. All types of embroidery hoops are generally inexpensive and highly convenient to use. However it usually takes a lot or caution and care when taking out the fabric to prevent any distortions that could potentially damage the design of the embroidery. Embroidery hoops are especially great for using fabrics such as Aida, linen and any other finely woven fabrics. If you are working in a rather big embroidery design, the hand rotating hoop, or more commonly known as the Freedom hoop would be a better option, especially on canvas embroidery projects. If you are still relatively new in embroidery making, it would be best to take advantages of the tools that would make everything else an enjoyable learning experience for you. Some people who encounter embroidery difficulties are easily disheartened and would possibly decide not to finish the project. Embroidery hoops are very useful tools that would certainly make embroidery a lot easier and more convenient for you. |
